Kitchen remodeling is underway!

Due to the flood we had in December, we've needed to have our kitchen re-done.  The work finally began on Monday, January 6th after almost two full weeks of purging and organizing in the basement -- a MAJOR endeavor.   We're thankful that the time off for Christmas and New Years allowed us to focus on getting ready.

In case you're wondering how cleaning the basement relates to re-doing the kitchen, we have to do all our cooking and a lot more living down there while we can't use the kitchen.  The kitchen work should take about a month.

 This is how the main room of the basement looked just before we got started on Boxing Day (the perfect day to start, right?).

 It may be hard to tell, but we had made a lot of progress by this point. 

 I had to take a picture of this subset of our dolls before I got rid of a few.   

Kitchen Before:

This is our kitchen, ready to be renewed!  We had to take everything out and move it to our basement during the renovation.  

 We're ready to have this problem fixed!

 By Saturday night, we had everything sufficiently set up and ready to cook, eat, and enjoy.  It actually turned out to look pretty cozy and welcoming.

 Although cooking in the basement without an oven or a stove does have some inconveniences, we're enjoying it much more than we expected.  The crock pot, electric skillet, blender, and rice cooker can do a lot!

We had to hop over from the front door to go upstairs.

Needless to say, life has been both challenging and exciting lately.  We're thankful for insurance which covers so much of the expense.

Despite the above tarps to block dust, the rest of the main level is pretty dusty.
