Visiting the "Promised Land" part 4

Sunday, June 24:

We attended Grace OPC in Wasilla (same name as our church at home) and got homemade ice cream at one of Alaska's thousands of espresso huts.

After church, we hiked Bodenberg Butte near Daddy's old house in Palmer.

Alaska hikes were very steep, unlike the hikes we take in Virginia which should really be called walks.

cleaning off every speck of that unsightly dust
Janelle, Jessica, and Jason hiked this first hike barefoot on the powdery glacial silt.  The rest of the hikes turned out to be much rockier, but we left our shoes behind, nevertheless.  Reasons: good for your joints and posture, exercises and strengthens your foot and ankle muscles, sensing the ground allows you to make lots of little adjustments for the terrain which benefits your spine.  Mostly... It feels GREAT!  To learn more, read The Barefoot Book or listen to this article from Answers in Genesis.

We walked along the road to this lake near Daddy's house.  We had to jump down into the ditch every time a vehicle passed and then climb back out.
