First of all I must acknowledge Jessica's hard work to treasure God's Word in her heart and make it to Nationals - earning us all a 6-day vacation!

After a VERY full week (including: a full day of helping with elections, classes, ballet, Bible study, soccer, CLEP test, lots food prep, shopping, and a
Raising Entrepreneurs conference all day Friday and Saturday!!) we departed at 6am last Tuesday for the National Bible Bee!!!!

The trip took about 13 hours including stops. This trip was us kids' first time to drive into a new time zone! On the way down we took a detour to Knoxville to stop at the neighborhood where our grandparents used to live. It was good to be back there where we had so many memories, and we even got to talk to one of their old neighbors.
For lunch we got barbecue (take note - a theme is beginning to develop) to eat in the car.

After checking into our hotel we ate dinner at our new favorite dinner spot in downtown Nashville - Jack's Barbecue!
Wednesday morning we didn't have to register for the Bible Bee until later in the day, so we walked down to the Tennessee State Museum and then drove to the Opryland Hotel - a huge hotel with 5 acres of indoor gardens.

After the Opryland, we switched hotels and registered for the Bible Bee, then had dinner with some friends from our local Bible Bee at - guess where - Jack's!
Other highlights from Nashville: Our hotel was right downtown, so we were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go.

The Competition began Thursday morning. Semifinals were held on Friday and Finals on Saturday. Thanks to everyone's prayers, Jessica was not very nervous, and though she didn't make it to semifinals she and we all had a very encouraging and fun time!
