Independance Day

We had a great celebration of Independence Day. The day was filled with a bit of chores/yard work, lemonade stand for Jessica, Jason, Jeannine and Julia, and festive preparations for company in the evening. Some good friends of ours from church came in the evening for dinner and fireworks at home, and then we all drove to Vienna (right down the street from our church building) for real fireworks. As immigrants from South Africa who are trying to become citizens, they have a greater appreciation for Independence day than many Americans. (By the way, you may have noticed the use of Independence Day instead of 4th of July. We have come to the conclusion that Americans are forgetting the meaning of the holiday and have come just to enjoy an excuse to party. We might as well celebrate our Independence as long as we have it! Happy INDEPENDENCE Day!)
